Triumphal arches, churches, palaces… On this private walking tour of Dijon, an English-speaking guide will take you through one of Burgundy's most beautiful cities. Its fascinating history will win you over for good!
Tucked into the Côte-d'Or province and just a stone's throw from the source of the Seine, Dijon is one of the prettiest cities in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. Want to dive into its fascinating history with an exclusive guide just for you? To get started, we'll meet under the Porte Guillaume.
After taking in this 18th-century triumphal arch on Place Darcy, we'll kick off our private tour of Dijon by walking down Rue de la Liberté, the city's main pedestrian street. As you'll see, this long avenue is lined with timber-framed buildings, like the Maison aux Trois Visages.
Our next stop is Place de la Libération. In this square, the heart of Dijon's old town, we'll check out the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy from the outside, along with the Tour Philippe le Bon, the city's most iconic tower. Did you know this old watchtower has been standing since the mid-15th century?
From there, we'll head to the Church of Notre-Dame, a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture. We'll admire its main features from the outside, including the statue of Notre-Dame de Bon-Espoir, the Jacquemart clock, and the famous La Chouette, the owl that grants good wishes.
Finally, after a 2-hour stroll, we'll wrap up this guided tour of Dijon in front of the Church of Saint-Michel, a 16th-century church known for its stunning Renaissance façade.
