The town of Guadix in Granada is known for having the largest concentration of inhabited caves in Europe. Discover its charms in a comfortable and charming way onboard its tourist train.

Guadix Caves Train Tour

We'll start this train tour from Plaza de la Catedral. Onboard this colourful urban train you'll travel through the main attractions of this town in the Sierra de Granada, which is home to Roman, Arab and Christian remains. Along the way, you'll enjoy recorded commentaries in English, discovering the secrets of each monument.

From the old town of Guadix, the train will start its journey through cobbled streets full of history, passing by places such as the Roman Theatre, the church of San Miguel, the church of Santo Domingo and the church of La Magdalena. The train will also pass by the Cathedral of the Annunciation, a real jewel of Renaissance architecture.

To discover Guadix's Nazarite past, the tourist train will take you around the outside of the Alcazaba, the Arab wall, the old alcaicería and the Jewish quarter. In addition, you'll be able to discover the history of the Cascamorras as you pass by the monument that commemorates this festival, declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

Schedule & frequency

The train departs daily, once every 40 minutes (from 10:40 am to 12:40 pm) from the Plaza de la Catedral.

Guadix caves

The tourist train of Guadix stops for 45 minutes in the Barrio de las Cuevas, the most famous area of the town. Here you can visit on your own the viewpoint of Guadix and the house of the parish priest, the only church-cave in the world. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to get to know how it is living in these curious houses, that are splashed all around the area, an essential visit.
