Cantabria West Coast Small-Group Day Trip

  • 326 reviews | 5,640 travellers
I want to emphasize the professionalism and friendliness of our guide, Rafael. Besides all the relevant explanations and clarifications to our questions, he made the whole time very enjoyable. I wish all guides were like this. The excursion was fantastic; in just one day, we were able to visit several places. Thank you very much.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up at the agreed meeting point in Santander or Torrelavega to begin this day trip to the western coast of Cantabria

Our first stop of the day will be San Vicente de la Barquera, a fishing village where we'll embark on a guided tour. This town is known for its surrounding estuaries, beaches, dunes, and cliffs. Did you know this town is in the heart of the Parque Natural de Oyambre?

Afterward, we'll head to Comillas, the only modernist-influenced town in Cantabria. During the guided tour, we'll explore the heritage complex formed by the Palacio de Sobrellano and the Chapel-Pantheon of Sobrellano Palace, the Casa del Duque, and the Universidad Pontificia as we share their history.

You'll also have free time to explore this town at your own pace. During this time, you can visit El Capricho by Gaudí, a surprising building that captivates everyone with its lively colors and fascinating shapes

Our day trip along the western coast will also take us to Santillana del Mar, famous for its medieval buildings, cobbled streets, and the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana. Here, you'll have approximately 1.5 hours of free time so you can have lunch and explore the medieval architectural complex's towers, houses, and palaces at your own pace.

The final touch of our day trip will be entering the Altamira Museum and the Cave of Altamira, a reconstruction of the prehistoric paintings of the original cave, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It's an authentic journey through time to the earliest times of humankind.

Our 9-hour day trip will finish with us dropping you off at the pickup point.
