Pastéis de nata are one of Lisbon's most important culinary treasures. To learn how to make them, we'll meet at Rua Margarida Palla 25ª de Algés, a district that is right next to the iconic neighborhood of Belém.
After a short introduction, we'll put on our aprons and start this pastéis de Belém cooking class. First, we'll learn how to prepare the puff pastry dough, the crucial foundation of this dessert.
Then, you'll learn how to make the egg cream, milk, and sugar filling. We'll show you step by step! During the cooking class, you'll also discover the history of pastéis de nata, created in the first half of the 19th century in the Lisbon neighborhood of Belém. We'll also reveal why these desserts have this name!
Of course, after the cooking class, you'll enjoy a tasting of the pastéis de nata that you've cooked. These delicious tarts will be accompanied by a cup of coffee or tea, whichever you prefer.
The total duration of this cooking class will be 2 hours.
